• Register for ACT Workshops at WSU. 
• Each spring, the state of Kansas pays for each junior to take the ACT free of charge. This coming year, all juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 during the school day. 
  • What is the ACT? The ACT is a college-entrance exam that assesses skills in math, science, English, and reading.
  • How do I get signed up? The counseling office will sign all juniors up. You do not need to do anything to sign up for this test.
  • What if I am behind in credits? We will sign up students to take the ACT based on their cohort year. All juniors will have the opportunity to take the test. 
  • How can I prepare? See your counselor for free practice materials, or go here to see free practice tests.
  • How long is the test? The test usually lasts about four hours. You will be excused from class for the time it takes you to complete the test.
  • Can I get accommodations? If you have a 504 plan or IEP, it is possible you will qualify for some accommodations. Students testing with accommodations will not test March 1, but will test at a later date. See a counselor with questions

  • What is the Pre-ACT? The Pre-ACT 8/9 is a preparatory exam for the ACT, which all juniors will take. The Pre-ACT also shows each student's college & career readiness levels, as well as providing our teachers with valuable data for their planning purposes. Read more about the Pre-ACT 8/9 here.
  • How do I get signed up? The counseling office will sign all freshmen up. You do not need to do anything to sign up for this test.
  • How can I prepare? For Pre-ACT, there is no set preparation tool. Come ready to do your best and use your score as a gauge to prepare for the ACT.

• What courses should I take in high school in order to be considered for a position at a military academy?

There are several options when choosing to visit a college or university campus. You can contact the school’s admissions department and schedule a private day, or can attend an organized junior or senior day with students from all over the country. If you don’t see a college you’re interested in on this list, simply go to their website and see if they have any days available. All colleges on this list are in Kansas or the Kansas City, MO area. Remember to look at tuition closely when considering an out-of-state school. You can see tuition for any school on Xello by searching the school name.
